Jakarta street food: Goreng gorengan

One of my colleagues used to bring a dozen of these to the office every few days.  We ate them with chili pods.  They’re delicious, but you wonder what it’s doing to your artery walls.  The guy in the clip is also offering fried tofu.  The trick with this stuff is to try to buy it freshly cooked, sometimes it can sit on the shelf for a while before it gets sold.

Tempe is fermented soy bean cake.  It has a distinct taste and is delicious by itself with sambal (chili paste).
